A couple of fun and easy party activities for you…
Homemade play dough is a fun and easy addition to any party! You can make it ahead and have it ready for the party guests~ or you can incorporate the process into a party activity. Making the play dough is as much fun for the children as playing with it afterward. Just prepare a workspace that can get a little messy. This is a fun activity to do at home with your children, too. It is also a great playdate activity!
The recipe that I used for these play dough lollipops is the easiest I have found. As an extra little fun surprise, I have the kids roll the dough into a ball and stick their finger in to make a small well. I put a drop of food coloring in and close the well. Then have the children squish and squeeze, and the dough begins to change color. They love that surprise! The food coloring is messy, but the children love to watch it turn the dough a new color. The older children can mix colors to make other colors. See below for the easy recipe!
EASY PLAY DOUGH
1 1/4 CUPS FLOUR
1/4 CUP SALT
1/2 CUP WATER
1 TEASPOON VEGETABLE OIL
FOOD COLORING (OPTIONAL)
Mix the dry ingredients together and then add the wet ingredients. Mix well.
Knead the dough until proper consistency. Sprinkle more flour if dough is too sticky.
Also, you can add the food coloring to the water and then mix with the dough or add coloring directly (messier option).
Cover tightly to save or just PLAY!
Another party/at home/playdate idea I want to share with you…BIG BUBBLEWANDS!
These bubblewands are one of the best party goods I have bought! I originally bought these for the LOLLIPOP PARTY because they looked like giant lollipops to me. But…my children and their friends love to play with these year-round because the bubbles and the wands are GREAT! I keep a gallon jug pre-made so that they can make giant bubbles while they play outside all summer! This is always a big hit at every party, too! There are several different designs for the wand tops and so they are perfect for boys and girls! Here is the best recipe for bubbles I have found…
BUBBLE JUICE
11 CUPS WATER
4 CUPS AJAX ANTI-BACTERIAL DISH SOAP
1 CUP GLYCERINE (found in pharmacies)
Mix together and keep in a gallon jug.
Do not stir or shake the bubble juice- it creates foam and the bubbles won’t fly!
Store in a cool place and have a great bubble time!
Here is one of my favorite bubble-wand-fun photos. A friend snapped this picture of my daughter playing with the bubbles while I was close by setting up for an Easter party. She looks like she is really enjoying those bubbles!
Have fun!
