Watermelon-themed parties are one of my absolute favorite birthday party ideas! Tracy, of Sweet Peach Paperie, hosted a watermelon party for her daughter’s 2nd birthday, and she is going to show us some of the elements that can make your party really stand out…from the darling invitation to the lunch boxes to the hand-held fans. Tracy’s birthday party ideas will help you make your watermelon bash the sweetest one in town!

First, set the tone with these fabulous invitations…I love the gingham insert on the envelope!

Greet guests and make them feel welcome (they’ll also know they are in the right place!) with a flag that matches the invitation- customized with the birthday girl’s name on it.  How pretty!  Use one or put out a set of them to line the walkway or driveway.

More details that add sweet touches to your party…a beautiful place setting with a simple design for each guest! I love how great the fork looks with a ribbon simply tied in a bow with a green tag that reads, “Sweet”. Add a drink bottle with a customized wrapper and straw/straw flag, plus a place card and everyone feels a little more special! The placemat is perfect in green with Happy Birthday across the bottom!  And, of course, that cookie…

How fun is it to find your place at the table AND find a gorgeous cookie waiting just for YOU?!

A simple white cloth with a gingham runner or overlay works perfectly for putting together a watermelon-themed table.  Find your favorite red flowers or even wildflowers, and place in the center of the table.  You could even use a watermelon as a vase, or place it beside the table as a decoration…

When it is time to serve lunch, make it easy on yourself and have brown lunch bags packed and ready!  Tracy used an eyelet punch (Martha Stewart brand typically found at Michael’s) to decorate the edges of the brown bags.  She also added a red bow, wooden spoon, and  custom watermelon sticker~

Mini cupcakes for dessert- topped with cute cut-outs that coordinate with the invitation, signs, and stickers…

It really is sweet to be TWO!  And, two is a really sweet age to be (no matter what they say!)…

Tracy also thought of the heat during watermelon season and created these fans for the guests…

How precious!  Thank you for sharing your watermelon birthday party ideas with us, Tracy!  It is fun to see the set-up and “before the party” pictures to give us a great idea of what goes in to the planning side of preparing for a party!  Your paper collection is perfect – I look forward to watermelon picnics, summer days, and special birthdays!

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

What began as a simple gesture to introduce my daughter to a wonderful book series has become a special evening ritual for us- reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books!  I must admit, I didn’t realize quite how interesting these books would be to her, but she cannot wait to read all nine in the series.  It was only fitting that her birthday party focus around Little House on the Prairie!  Together, we had a ball planning all of the details of her party that related to the books in some way.  At Camille’s request, we focused on some of her favorite parts of the stories… prairie flowers, covered wagons, tee pees, the colors in the drawings of the books,  and “pretty”…because “Ma” liked things to be pretty!

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!
