Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.

I really wanted to send a teeny, little invitation tucked into something teeny.  I found these adorable ice cream cone coin purses and knew they would be perfect.  I contacted my friend Loralee Lewis~ and she knew just what to do to make the invitation fit into the coin purse!  Loralee even added little tags for us to put on the outside that read, “Open Me!”.  Teeny details are the best.

Being with your friends is the most important part of a party at this age, and so I didn’t focus on activities (they mostly went swimming).  But, they do love to eat… and this group really loves sweets.  Knowing that, I had a great time choosing fun little treats that they could enjoy in teeny versions.  Thank goodness for such talented and creative dessert makers!  To decorate the Teeny Treat Table, I asked my friend Keisha, at Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams, if she could do a version of her cupcake garland in miniature form. Turns out, she surely can!  Look how cute it turned out!

I love this little garland!  Keisha let us choose our own mini cupcake liners so that we could coordinate the colors, and then she went to work on this adorable little creation!  Everything about it was so cute and perfect! Camille especially loved it because she chose each liner for the garland.Let’s just look at that again…

I also used a teeny, gold, glitter banner and fantastic confetti garlands to add to the decoration fun! The confetti garlands were handmade by my sweet friend Do of Piggy Bank Parties.  I don’t even want to think about how hard it was to string all of those together- but I surely am thankful for Do and her awesome shop that always delivers the best to my door for parties! And, that mini pom pom garland is handmade by Cupcake Wishes and Birthday Dreams! Camille loved the teeny balloons and she added those to the table herself!

And, those teeny, little desserts…

My friend Roni, at Roni’s Sugar Creations, took my request for teeny treats and ran with it! Working mostly off of the color scheme and the request for specific miniature desserts, Roni wowed us with her fun and beautiful sweets! These are mini Oreos- I added mini party hats to the display for a little height- aren’t they all just adorable?

Roni also made caramel apples for Camille (one of her biggest requests) and added teeny candy doughnuts to them.  These were a fun surprise and so delicious. I love the way Roni added the perfect ribbons to the straws to make it all go together so well!

Camille has always loved cake pops and so I asked Roni to make teeny ice cream cones and cakes…

I love the teeny sprinkle details on each one.  These cake pops lasted about two seconds!

My friend and favorite buttercream girl, Kathi from My Sweet Things, came through for us with a collection of cakes that we just loved!  I originally wanted to have 13, four-inch cakes but came to my senses and decided on 4 teeny cakes total.  We had the one above for the teeny sleepover and had the other three for the bubble soccer party the following day.

I made the teeny-pom toppers for the cake above.  These were fun to make and an easy way to help tie the theme and the colors all together!

This candy cake, by My Sweet Things, was especially well-received! There is nothing like sugar on sugar when you are a teen!

I love how it turned out!

And what is a Teen Party without emojis? This teeny cake is very” teeny”!

At each child’s bedside, I put a miniature bag with mini “milk and cookie” cookies inviting them to join us for cookies and milk before bed.  My so very kind friend Lisa, from Flourish Sweet Shop, made these as a special order for us to accommodate the teeny size.  They were so darn cute!

You can see the miniature size of the bags in this photo…

The bedtime cookies were gorgeous name cookies by Flourish Sweet Shop- Lisa designed these with teeny letters and teeny polka dots.  I just loved them and so did the girls!

We also had Teeny Snapchat Cookies just for fun- as that is their favorite app these days!

The candy underneath is from Sweets Indeed.  The wonderful Marie has the best mixes of candy confetti to match your parties!

Another one of my very favorite details was the teeny, little doughnuts that we served on miniature glass plates with miniature glasses of milk- with teeny straws and a teeny birthday chick on top!  We served these at breakfast the following day.

For breakfast, we also served strawberries in these teeny and adorable baskets.  I wish I had taken a photo of how cute they were with the berries.  Maybe I can re-create it and share sometime soon, but you get the genreal idea.  I lined the baskets with a paper party napkin before adding the berries. We also served teeny pancakes, bacon (nobody wants that to be teeny), and teeny bowls of cheese grits.

For the drinks, I filled mini glass bottles (that I found at Bake it Pretty) with juice and/or lemonade.  I added a paper straw and the daintiest little edible butterflies.  I love how these looked and can’t wait to do it again sometime.  Such a surprise detail for the guests~ and they loved it!

I had teeny milk cartons filled with juice for each girl- they actually used them a lot afterward. Each carton had a different color top and so they liked being able to fill them with their drink of choice and keep up with whose was whose.

I highly recommend a TEENY party if you have a chance to host one! It adds more fun to becoming a teen and inspires endless creative ways to party in a teeny way!

As a side note…Camille had her heart set on giving mini S’well water bottles to her friends as party favors. She picked out each on online and we also discovered that you can use chalk pens to write on the bottles.  It erases easily.  And so, that is what we did for party favors- I must say that the S’well company has amazingly awesome customer service!  I was very impressed!  I am not being paid to say that. šŸ™‚

I also wanted to recommend these cooking pots for a miniature party- they are great for appetizers, dips, desserts, or (at breakfast) making oatmeal or cheese grits…like we did! The girls LOVED them! I was able to find a different brand with a better price at one of my favorite shops, Plain Jane in Athens. These are awesome!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all of the ladies and guys that helped me pull all of these ideas together!  I am so happy to know each of you, even if it is only virtually.  You have great talent and skills and I appreciate you!

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!
