There are so many things to love about Brian Hart Hoffman- he bakes really incredible desserts; he shares his baking tips and recipes in print and online; he teaches classes that are full of information in partnership with Williams Sonoma; he has a big heart and a big personality that wins you over instantly! To know him is to love him~

I have had the opportunity to get to know Brian more and more over the years, and I am drawn to his enthusiasm, wit, and his ability to share his knowledge and experiences to help others grow and learn right along with him. He stays busy baking each day while also overseeing the magazine Bake from Scratch as editor-in-chief.  With so many recipes that are offered through the now 5 volumes of Bake from Scratch cookbooks, it is hard to come up with a favorite. But, I do have one recipe that I go to repeatedly each spring, and I thought you guys might love it too!  I will share it below~ but I also encourage you to order the cookbooks and/or subscribe to the magazine. You will enjoy all of the recipes and will become more proficient in your baking skills with Brian as your baking guide! Here is my top favorite recipe so far- and I will also share some close runners-up!

Milk Chocolate Candy Egg Cookies ~ quite possibly the best spring candy ever made! 🙂 Brian takes them to a new level with these cookies.  Addictive, beautiful, rich, delicious, irresistible.

Another of my favorites is this incredible combo~ and especially that chocolate buttercream!

We were so fortunate to have Brian as a Guest Spotlight at The Supper Club recently~ it was such a treat to bet to bake and learn from Brian in a small group.  You can also find Brian teaching classes online at Baking School with Williams Sonoma on Monday nights. And, you can also preorder the latest Bake from Scratch Cookbook (Volume 5) here. As you can see below. I’m a fan! 🙂

I hope this inspires you to bake from scratch and make something special for yourself or someone else. Baking is a great form of creating something and truly reaping the rewards. Enjoy every bite! And, please let me know which recipes you discover that you love! I always love hearing about a new must-try recipe!

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!
