Jarcuterie is the cutest trend going and one of my favorites to make. Instead of making a large charcuterie board for a crowd, jarcuterie is creating individual servings that are still packed with a variety of delicious options. It is perfect for kids and adults. The easiest way to make them is to prep the fruits, veggies, meats, and cheeses first. Next, create an assembly line method and fill each jar! Also, as you can see~ you can use a glass or other container if you prefer, rather than an actual jar.
This is the most basic jarcuterie that I make for my family. I love the rainbow of colors and it makes a perfect treat for St. Patrick's Day. I put yogurt in the bottom of the jar or glass and then add fruits by color. ROY G BIV gets a workout in the month of March around here. Even as my kids have gotten older and have outgrown acknowledging the rainbow in the jar, they are still drawn to it and happily down every bite.
With Easter coming up pretty soon, I wanted to make an Easter version for you guys. The bunny cheese is so easy and adds such a fun factor to the jar. To make the cheese bunny, you will need 2 mini Babybel cheese rounds. Use one round for the face. Use the other Babybel cheese to make the ears. Simply slice to pieces off of each rounded side of the cheese to make two tall ears. Attach the ears with toothpicks broken in half. Use edible markers to add the eyes and nose. Assemble the bunny on a skewer or lollipop stick.
This is my daughter's favorite mix of flavors. I use Everything but the Bagel Dip from Trader Joe's at the bottom.I add in her favorite raw vegetables~ carrots, snow peas, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The bunny cheese is a bonus. She wouldn't eat it when she was little- it was too cute, and she always wanted to save all of the cute food. :) I made a taller version, too. This one doesn't have the dip~ you can mix fruit and vegetables and let them enjoy it without adding a dip. I will add a little bit of extra cheese or blueberries when I make it again. That's one thing I love about making these~ they are different each time!
Another really easy version of this idea is a Caprese jar. Here, I layered miniature tomatoes with mozzarella balls and fresh basil leaves. Drizzle Balsamic vinegar and add a little bit of salt and cracked pepper to the top. It is delicious. Just remember a fork for this one.
I hope this sparks some fun ideas for you to try. The list is endless of different combinations and ideas. I would love to see photos or hear about what you make! Tell me in the comments below or tell us all in the Party Chat. I would love to hear what you would put in a jarcuterie!
Cheers, Friends!
