A Girls' Night is always a fun way to spend time with your friends and treating them to an unexpected color combo can make it even more exciting! While I love the traditional colors of Halloween and use them frequently, I also want to share these ideas to help you push your creativity. The good news is that if you prefer a different color scheme all-together, you can make it your own by choosing the colors you would like to use. Your theme could also be "Ghouls Night In" to add more Halloween vibes. Let's get started!
For the tablecloth, I chose an all-white background with a green floral design. I wanted a little bit of sherbet orange or pastel orange ribbon to add to the tablecloth for seasonal color, but I couldn't find the right ribbon. Instead, I found the perfect shade of crepe paper and added strips of crepe paper to the table cloth for added detail. I found the roll of crepe paper at Party City while I was there choosing balloons.
Speaking of balloons, I had a ball making this balloon garland centerpiece. I made a balloon garland because I wanted a little bit of drama without going vertical. I used 5-inch balloons in pink and orange. The tricks to making a balloon garland is using the right tools and giving yourself enough time. I use an electric pump called Balloon Buddy to inflate the balloons and put them all together by using a Balloon Decorating Strip found in the balloon section at Party City. I did 2 different pieces to go on each side of the flower centerpiece. I really wanted the garland to trail on the floor and so I make it longer than needed- but you can achieve the same feel with a shorter version. Typically, the balloons will lose a little bit of air by the following day and settle nicely on the table. I would make these a day or two before you host.
The flower centerpiece was also fun to make using flowers from Trader Joe's. I wanted to use brass or gold for the container to tie in with the warmth of fall colors. I used a footed brass oblong container from PKL The Cellar. It was the perfect height without blocking the view for the guests. To arrange the flowers, I used a small piece of chicken wire and rolled it in a tube shape to match the length of the container. I fill the container with water and then started arranging the greenery first. Next, I added the flowers and blooms until it was filled. I used extra greenery to fill in any spaces that looked like they needed more.
Here's a photo of how it looked as I finished it up in our mudroom...this photo shows the container better, too.
Now that the centerpiece is put together, let's actually set the table. I wanted to go girly and non-traditional. I used solid white chargers to start. I used a plaid dinner plate and then topped that with a pink glass salad plate. I like how the pink glass still allows the colors from the plaid plate to show! I also put a pink glass bread plate on top of the salad plate. For decoration, I added a white pumpkin that I "painted" blue bows on using a Sharpie. I drew the bows and colored them- and made each one a little different. These would look really cute with a name attached to the stem and used as a place card, if you want to let your guests know where to sit.
I used gold silverware (is it still called silverware if it is gold? :) and white napkins. For candles, I used adorable ghost candles from Molly Jenkins Pottery. I tied ribbons to them to give a girly vibe and to put the Ghoul in Ghoul's Night In.
Along with the white ghost candles, I filled in the center of the table with mini white pumpkins scattered down the middle...
A pink box tied with an orange bow filled with specialty candy (or even a couple of Hershey Bars) makes for a perfect party favor. Presentation makes it even more special and this looks too pretty not to add to the table. I think placing one at each place at the table adds a little excitement along with its beauty. You could add a fancy chocolate bar or even orange, pink, or white rock candy sticks inside the box.
For drinks, if you are serving wine, I suggest a Rose' to go along with the pretty pink colors. If you are not serving wine but would like to have a drink with a little color, I suggest Clementine or Grapefruit Izze soda. Remember to always have water as an option. For this table, I added a pink striped paper straw to tie it all together. It's an easy touch that always looks cute!
So, what do you think? Would you be excited to host a Halloween party with pink and orange? I love the freshness of the colors- and the unexpected fun of it all!
Next up, I will use the same tablecloth and convert the look into a more traditional Halloween look. I can't wait to hear your favorites for Halloween and to see how you all celebrate. It's almost here- I hope you can find a few ideas to help you celebrate with lots of joy.
Next week, we will start with our November series of ideas! I am so excited to have this community with you. Thank you for being here and let's keep sharing our creative ideas and creating happy memories with friends and family!
Cheers xo,
Lydia
