@seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrat @seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrate something special. This year, my family and I headed down to the Georgia coast to spend Easter weekend while I presented table setting ideas to the members and guests. It will be a weekend I will always remember because my parents were able to be there too! There’s nothing quite like the beauty of Sea Island- and the level of hospitality and southern graciousness! I hope you enjoy this quick stroll about~ #southernhospitality #seaisland

    Forum Description

Would you love to have an EASY activity to do with your children that can also double as a little gift for their friends?  My children and I have had a ball making these cute and funny little melted candy cane and peppermint lollipops!  My kids love candy canes, and so this activity has been a SWEET hit!

When I say it is easy, it really is SO easy to make these little Rudolph lollies!  And, quick too!  We simply used mini candy canes, peppermint candies, edible writing pens, a dab of icing, and a red candy nose!

To melt the candy and make it one piece, first, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Put one peppermint candy on a covered cookie sheet (I used aluminum foil) and put 2 mini candy canes at the top of the peppermint where the antlers would be.  I broke each of the canes a little to make them shorter.

Pop them in the oven for 3-5 minutes and watch them carefully.  We melted some more than others to see how we liked them.  This one was "more melted" and it gives the antlers a swirly look which we loved...

You can tell that this one had less time in the oven because his antlers aren't as swirly, but the candies all melted together to become one piece...

As soon as they come out of the oven, push or press a lollipop stick into the melted peppermint.  Definitely a job for a grown-up only as the pan is hot!  let cool completely before you decorate.

We also really loved making a snowman out of 3 round peppermint candies...

We especially liked the little curly-que on his head that gave him a cute 'do!  The little things that they love and laugh about!

Our little snowman was simple!  We lined up 3 mints, put him in the oven to melt for a few minutes, pressed the lollipop stick in the last mint and waited for him to cool before we decorated him!  We made his face with edible markers and used blue candies for his buttons.  You can use any candy that you have to dress him!

You can also serve these at a party or have them as party favors.  You can also be creative with how you display them to add to the whimsical fun.  I love them displayed in blue gumballs above and in white gumballs with battery tea lights below...

You may remember that I used 70 battery tea lights at my mom's birthday party and so we are still finding uses for all of those lights!  They are great for kid projects!  (See how we used them with ping pong balls here.)

I have to admit, we just really had a good time making these!  We have more ideas of what we want to make and will probably work on a few more designs just because!  My kids loved decorating them, sharing them, and eating them - but, they were really surprised and very excited when we melted each one- they didn't really know what to expect and they were quite impressed! ;)

We loved this project and hope you do, too!  Let me know if you try it or if you have questions on how to do it!  Super simple, easy holiday fun!  Enjoy!

Lollipops by The Party Wagon and children

Please remember to put the lollipop sticks in after the lollies are out of the oven- don't put the sticks in the oven, and please use caution with the children.  Also, if you are making a tray at a time, leave space to fit the sticks in right away before the candy "sets".  Have fun!!
