@seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrat @seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrate something special. This year, my family and I headed down to the Georgia coast to spend Easter weekend while I presented table setting ideas to the members and guests. It will be a weekend I will always remember because my parents were able to be there too! There’s nothing quite like the beauty of Sea Island- and the level of hospitality and southern graciousness! I hope you enjoy this quick stroll about~ #southernhospitality #seaisland

    Forum Description

When my husband and I bought our home, it was in need of some tender loving care. It was 100 years old and needed major renovation and restoration. This little house project took close to 2 years to finish and, during that time, my husband had to keep watch over everything to do with the restoration. And so, one summer as we were getting closer to moving in, we didn't take a summer vacation at all. We were powering through to try to finish the house by the end of the year. During this time, I told my kids that I wanted them to find something that they could make and sell- I wanted their idle hands to be productive, and so I challenged them to find something that could be a little side business. My daughter chose baking- and she made and sold dog treats that were very popular! She also began making edible cookie dough and, although she didn't sell it (packaging, marketing, delivering, etc. was more difficult than dog treats!), it became a huge hit with her friends. Her family didn't hate it that she made edible cookie dough either! She gets asked for the recipe every time someone tries it, and so we wanted to share it with you!

I will say, finding a cute or fun way to serve the edible cookie dough is important! I can't say it is naturally beautiful, and so we like to find creative ways to dress it up! This is the easiest way I have found...

Use colorful candy cups that are found at craft stores are a perfect way to serve edible cookie dough. Simply use an ice cream scoop to scoop the dough into the decorative cup. To make it a little more fun, I added a mini spoon tied with a ribbon at the top. That way, you have something pretty to see - and everyone loves eating out of a tiny spoon! I purchased the spoons at Party City and I have also seen them at Hobby Lobby.

And here is Camille's recipe...I highly recommend that you tweak it as you like! You can always add sprinkles, nuts, white chocolate chips, m&m's, etc...

    EDIBLE COOKIE DOUGH

    1/2 CUP SOFTENED BUTTER

    1/2 CUP BROWN SUGAR

    1/4 CUP WHITE SUGAR

    2-4 TABLESPOONS OF MILK

    2 TEASPOONS OF VANILLA

    1/2 TEASPOON OF BAKING SODA

    1/2 TEASPOON SALT

    3/4 CUP FLOUR

3/4 CUP CHOCOLATE CHIPS ( OR YOUR DESIRED AMOUNT)

    DIRECTIONS...

Mix butter and sugars with an electric mixer until well-combined.

Pour in 2 Tablespoons for milk- reserving the rest for later. Add in vanilla and mix well until combined.

Add in baking soda, salt, flour, chocolate chips and stir until well-combined.

    Be sure to refrigerate!

    Enjoy!

Remember to serve in a colorful cup and group together on a cake or cupcake stand-- or let me know how you like to serve edible cookie dough! I'm hooked and still think she could make a lot of money if she decided to sell it! It's simple and delish!!
