@seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrat @seaisland is always the perfect place to celebrate something special. This year, my family and I headed down to the Georgia coast to spend Easter weekend while I presented table setting ideas to the members and guests. It will be a weekend I will always remember because my parents were able to be there too! There’s nothing quite like the beauty of Sea Island- and the level of hospitality and southern graciousness! I hope you enjoy this quick stroll about~ #southernhospitality #seaisland

    Forum Description

It's HOT in our part of the country!  I decided to offer my children some frozen treats that are yummy on a hot day and aren't the same ole' ice cream or popsicle.  My mom used to make these for us when we were kids, and so now I am making them for my children...

    CRANBERRY POPS~

The recipe is about as EASY as it gets and the children can do it!  I must say, it sounds a little strange...but they are a hit!

To make Cranberry Pops all you do is stir one 8 oz. container of Cool Whip with a 16 oz can of Whole Cranberry Sauce (I told you it sounded strange).  Spoon into muffin tins and freeze.  I recommend mini muffin tins for the younger ones.   Of course, the kids loved lining the muffin pans with cupcake liners and spooning the mixture in to each slot.

We also decided to try a couple of other varieties...Pineapple Pops and Peach Pops!

These were yummy, too.  To make, just replace the cranberries with a can of chopped peaches (drained) or crushed pineapple.

We also love frozen grapes at our house.  I cannot keep enough in the freezer at a time!

I sprinkled a little bit of sugar on them before freezing but that is optional~

When I taught 2nd grade, I had a wonderful grandmother of a student come visit our class to share a little about her childhood.  She was raised in Panama where it was very hot and there was no air conditioning.  On the day she visited our classroom, she brought along  one of her favorite childhood treats for us to enjoy- frozen ORANGES!  I love to give these to my children when they are outside playing, and it is so, so hot.  I set them on a table on the porch on a covered plate and let them thaw a little so that they can squeeze the juice.

My son loves the oranges!  It is a different kind of treat that they aren't expecting.  I have to admit, they are yummy on a really hot day!  And the best news is that if they don't like them frozen, it only takes a short time to thaw in this heat!

    Enjoy!
