This party warms my heart as it is a baby shower for a couple that is adopting a baby boy from China!  They have waited over 5 years to adopt their second child from China, and their sweet friend Kristi planned an amazing Chinese New Year party and surprise shower to celebrate the special occasion!

Kristi included so many fun and festive decorations- I love the red lanterns and this tassle garland!

One of my favorite touches is the referral photo that Kristi used throughout the party.  The referral photo is the first photo that the adoptive parents received of their son.  Kristi printed it and used it on the favor bags and napkin rings…notice how she rimmed the photo with gold ink.

Desserts were made even more beautiful with Kristi’s creative displays and handmade cupcake toppers.  2012 is the Year of the Dragon on the Chinese calendar…

The new baby will be named Dan, and so Kristi used paper mache’ letters to spell out his name.  She painted them gold.  There were games for the children- such as guessing the number of fortune cookies in the jar and guessing what was in each baby food jar…

What a wonderful way to celebrate the arrival of a long-awaited wish come true!

Thank you for sharing your party, Kristi!  And congratulations to your friends and their family!

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
