I love parties with sweet sentiment, and this party is overflowing with it! Gretchen, of Three MonkeysStudio, hosted this party for her grandmother in honor of her grandmother's 90th birthday! Now, that is something to celebrate! I was also touched by the fact that Gretchen said she was inspired by the party I threw for my mom's birthday! How sweet! This is one special party for one special (and very loved) lovely lady!
Reminiscent of her grandmother's zinnia gardens and vintage glass jars, the party theme brought back fond memories shared by the family. I especially love how the exquisite cookies were customized to say, "Having a Ball Since 1922!" Gretchen says that epitomizes her grandmother's life and spunky, sassy personality!
Gorgeous ruffled cupcakes were topped with equally-beautiful zinnia fondant toppers. Because zinnias were not in bloom at the time of the party, Gretchen and her mom substituted Gerbera Daisies to be a close match to her grandmother's favorite flower.
The cake was decorated with a simple bunting and looks beautiful against the rosette backdrop!
Gretchen and her mother baked pies in jars and served them with toppers that read, "Sweetie Pie", and "Ninety is Sweet!" They were a big hit!
Each jar lid was decorated with burlap ribbon~
Gretchen and her mother used her grandmother's lace doilies to decorate the table and doilies bought in antique stores to make a garland. They also displayed photographs in an antique window topped with a lovely wreath~
Such a beautiful way to celebrate such a special lady! Gretchen says there wasn't a dry eye at the party when her sweet grandmother arrived!
