I used to live close by to a specialty chocolate company, Graffiti Zoo, and always found fun gift ideas!  Their chocolates all have animal names ~ Pagoda Pandas, Margarita Manatee, Polar Peppermint Penguins~ and so it is a treat just to choose your flavor!  Recently, our family pet had an unfortunate encounter with something much larger than he is and had to spend some time at the vet.  I knew the perfect way to say thank you to our veterinarians for the great care…

How perfect to give a vet’s office candy that is called Barking Dogs!  We included Backstage Calicos, Early Bird Popcorn- and, because our vet told us the story about how he was once attacked by an owl, we threw in some Night Owl Popcorn just for kicks!!

We are grateful to have our furry friend back home and on the mend- and we are thankful for the great care- they even let us visit every day!

Graffiti Zoo is a Georgia-based company that ships all over! They have been featured on the Rachel Ray Show and in Paula Deen’s magazine~ congrats to you Graffiti Zoo!

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
