Wow!  A poodle party with a little rock star thrown in- this little girl had my creative wheels turning!  Her fun mom, Rebecca, asked to go light on the rock star and focus more on the poodles.  There were a couple of other cute requests from the birthday girl- to hold the party at a children’s salon (poodles love to primp) and to have a Barbie Cake!  Poodles, and Rock Stars, and Barbie, OH MY!

Quite a fancy doghouse for the poodles to play in when they arrived at the salon…of course, we are talking poodles, and they love fancy!

There was lots of primping going on…

And playing…

Here the birthday girl has her poodle paws painted…

All little poodles need some refreshment after all of that primping…

With Poodle Popcorn and Poodle Cookies, they were ready to sit and stay…

And these beautiful cookies were as much fun to look at as they were to eat…

Can you see how the cookies shimmer?  So many great details all in one cookie!

The Pink Poodle Push-Ups almost made them beg…

With big, gorgeous poms on top to make them as frilly as can be…

And, as I mentioned, the Birthday Girl really wanted a Barbie cake.  So, I figured Barbie could definitely have a poodle for a pet.  We could make it work!  I contacted Brittany of Edible Details and asked if she could make a poodle pet for Barbie to go beside the cake.  She made a version of the poodle used on the invitation…wow, she is great!

How adorable!  The birthday girl loved her special poodles!

The guests were treated to favor boxes full of nail polish, lip balm, and poodle (Hershey) kisses.  Each guest also went home with a bottle of their own “Shampoodle”- made especially for them for the party!  They can be perfectly polished and primped throughout the year!

The boxes were decorated with a sticker and a tulle poodle pom!

The birthday girl having her rockstar moment…(they did howl- I mean sing- karaoke at the party)!

All I can say is… these little party poodles rock!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
