I always look forward to seeing what Clair, of Calamity Cakes, has sent me when I see an email from her in my inbox!  Once again, Clair delivers a fabulous cake with show-stopping details- and styles the party to perfection.  I am thrilled to share her niece’s Woodland Party- and I especially love how Clair combined the lush setting of the woods with girlie pastels and beautiful butterflies to suit the sweet birthday girl!

Isn’t this cake just beautiful?  Clair says, “…The woodland themed cake was created with hours and hours of baking and love.  I wanted to create a somewhat realistic looking tree stump, with a pop of colour – provided by the butterflies, daisies, mushrooms and ladybugs.  The cake was a dense dark chocolate mud cake, covered with vanilla buttercream and fondant, with gum paste decorations.  I am so please to say that the kids (and parents) seemed quite enthralled by it.”.

Clair added cute elements from the forest to decorate the dessert table~ this mossy little squirrel is adorable!

The friends dressed in fairy costumes and had their faces painted…

What a beautiful party, Clair!  I know the guests had a wonderful day!  Thank you for sharing your niece’s party with us!

LILLY PULITZER CAKE DECORATING FLAMINGO BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

CAMILLE’S FIESTA ~ MEXICAN THEME BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

GO JUMP IN THE LAKE! BIRTHDAY PARTY IDEAS~ CAMPING~ FISHING~ WOODLAND

Go Jump in the Lake!  It takes on a new and really fun meaning when you invite some friends to literally jump in the lake with you- over and over and over!  My kids were given a gift of a water bouncer as a joint birthday present this year from their grandmom, and so that became the theme of my son’s birthday party.  We added things that we see at lake a lot- like fox, fish, bugs, and a skunk (there is one that lives in the woods around the lakehouse that is very cute- we just hope we keep it happy!).  Hopefully, you can find some fun and easy birthday party ideas for a similar theme- such as a camping party, fishing party, or woodland animal theme!

Birthday Party Ideas for a Teen- How to Celebrate a TEEN

Wow! My daughter turned into a teen!  Sometimes it can be tricky to decide what to do to celebrate this milestone.  I wanted to share with you some ideas that may help if you want to mark the occasion but also keep it low-key.  At first, my daughter wanted to have a very large sleepover to celebrate.  I loved it that she wanted to include everyone she knew, but laughed at the thought of trying to corral close to 30 tweens and teens! So, I told her she could have a little, bitty, teeny sleepover and her “real” party could be bubble soccer (which she had been begging to do at this huge sleepover she was planning ).  So, realizing the play on words with a “teeny” party, we went with the TEENY theme and used as many miniature things as we could.  It was such a fun theme and the ideas could go on forever…but this is what we decided on for her teeny, little sleepover.
