What a cute and unique theme for a gender reveal party! The mom-to-be was a long-time ballerina and the dad-to-be grew up farming…and so Ashton (of Darling Little Details) knew right away that “Boots or Ballet” would be a perfect theme for this party!  With so many creative details, you can also find great birthday party ideas for cowboys and ballerinas!  My favorite clever detail is the “Candy Barre” for the guests!  Love that idea!

Ashton welcomed the guests and invited them to make their guesses~ and she provided the cutest “Voting Booth” complete with a ballot and an “I Voted” sticker!

It looks like they are guessing “BOOTS”~

While the guests were making their best guesses, they were also invited to the “Watering Hole” to sip “Ballerina Bubbly” or “Cowboy Cocktails”…

Ashton had Mason Jars ready with chalkboard labels~ perfect for helping each guest keep up with his/her drink!

A CANDY BARRE was set up for the friends, too!  This served as the party favor and was a perfect way to tie in the theme and let each guest choose a little candy to take home!

So, what will it be…boots or ballet??  The cake-cutting revealed blue cake and blue icing! The guests guessed right!!  It’s gonna be boots!!

What a fun party and an exciting way to invite your friends to share such exciting news!  Ashton, thank you for sharing this party with us- I believe it is the first party I have seen with this theme!  Thank you for your creative ideas- I know the parents-to-be were thrilled with how you brought their childhoods into the party, too!

There is nothing like the bright colors and happy prints of Lilly Pulitzer to make every day feel like a party!  For my daughter’s 12th birthday party, she wanted to decorate cakes~ Lilly-style!  So, in order to decide how to mesh the two, I kept thinking “if Lilly had a cake shop instead of a juice stand”… I have to admit, this was one fun party to plan!  It is a blast to see where ideas go in the hands of a TWEEN!  Enjoy and remember, “…being happy never goes out of style!”.

Celebrating your birthday with a Mexican Fiesta is a sure way to have a great time!  My daughter and several of her friends had a ball with all of the bright colors and (hopefully) vivid memories of a beautiful party day full of fun!  Planning all of the party ideas and details was loads of fun- although we don’t claim to have everything authentically perfect- this is our take on a party that combines Mexican birthday party ideas with a young girl’s likes and wishes!  For instance, we know hedgehogs don’t hail from Mexico- but when she fell in love with a festive-looking hedgehog at a local shop, we decided the hedgehog would make a perfectly fun party favor!  So read on and enjoy- and hopefully you will find an idea or two that you can use for a Mexican-themed party or even a Cinco de Mayo celebration, too- and inspiration to incorporate ideas that make your party perfectly-suited for the birthday child!

What began as a simple gesture to introduce my daughter to a wonderful book series has become a special evening ritual for us- reading Laura Ingalls Wilder’s Little House books!  I must admit, I didn’t realize quite how interesting these books would be to her, but she cannot wait to read all nine in the series.  It was only fitting that her birthday party focus around Little House on the Prairie!  Together, we had a ball planning all of the details of her party that related to the books in some way.  At Camille’s request, we focused on some of her favorite parts of the stories… prairie flowers, covered wagons, tee pees, the colors in the drawings of the books,  and “pretty”…because “Ma” liked things to be pretty!

CAMILLE’S CLUBHOUSE ~ Confectionery, Soda Shoppe, Spa

My daughter had lots of ideas of what she wanted to do to celebrate her 10th birthday!  She wanted to have lots of cookies~ and have a soda shoppe ~ and set up a spa for nail painting!  With so many ideas, I knew we should come up with something that would tie it all together.  And, that is how Camille’s Clubhouse became the theme- the Clubhouse is where you can find lots of her favorite things!  We sent invitations with a an insert that had a “password” that had to be unscrambled and brought to the party for “entry”.  That was an easy way to get the guests involved before the party even started!
